Lydon’s 30th Birthday Party at Clover Club, Brooklyn

Shooting this party was a blast and of course the venue was great-looking. Difficult shooting (very dark! mirrored ceiling squares! wood walls!) but I pulled it off nicely with a little help from my 5D’s excellent high ISO capabilities and the ever-fabulous 50mm 1.2L. I had a lot of fun processing these shots– usually when I process a wedding I stick more or less to true color correction and basic contrast, with some b+w and sepia tone selections in the mix. With a set of party shots like this I couldn’t help getting a little creative with some vintage film-looks, cross processing effects etc. I love playing like this… hope you enjoy– and happy birthday, Lydon!

You did amazing things with that wonky light – everyone looks gorgeous and like they’re having fun.
Honestly – you don’t know how special they are!!
Hope you’re having a good Thursday, and thanks for everything!!
