Melissa & Ben are getting married next May at The Rhinecliff Hotel and we were eager to get their engagement portraits done before it got too hot! We started the session at their apartment to try and capture a family portrait with their two sweet cats, but their beautiful Maine coon cat, Arthur, was feeling way too shy to participate (can’t win’em all!), so instead we did some fun lifestyle shots of them at their kitchen table reading the paper, playing scrabble, and hanging out in their beautiful back yard, where they have been growing some little plants. I even got Ben to get out his sax and serenade Melissa as she watched him from the some flower-covered stairs! Shades were definitely in order for that particular shot! After heading outside we did some shots around their block and then hopped in the car to make our way to their old neighborhood. Ben is a great driver and a *patient* one I can attest since we had to look a while for a parking spot near the Brooklyn Promenade but these two were so cute to shoot in the car and it gave us chance to chat more! When we did find a spot we got to walk over and make a nice portrait in front of their old apartment in Brooklyn Heights (which has such a cool facade/front door they said people used to stop and take pictures in front of it all the time!) and then walked down to the promenade just in time to capture the lights going on over on the Brooklyn Bridge, etc. Congratulations, Melissa & Ben! I’m psyched for the wedding!
