Karina & Carl’s engagement portraits: LIC and Grand Central

Karina & Carl originally met at work years ago!  Karina caught Carl’s eye and he never forgot her even after her carreer took her elsewhere– when he spotted her on the street in Long Island City after many years they chatted and hit it off. The rest, as they say, is history.  For the engagement session we captured them in a few spots that were meaningful to them– Grand Central is right near where they work and they take the subway home together frequently.  Long Island City’s amazing waterside park provided some beautiful views and a place for us to capture them with a bike, Carl’s frequent mode of transporation. This couple couldn’t be sweeter and I’m so excited to capture their wedding at Linden Terrace and New Leaf Restaurant up at Fort Tryon Park this November.  Congratulations to Karina & Carl!

Chris & Lawrence’s Wedding at Harding’s NYC

Chris and Lawrence began their day uptown at The Carlyle Hotel where I met them to shoot the getting ready process.  Lawrence had gotten a miniature framed photo of his mother to attach to his boutenniere and he surprised Chris with a gift of his own similar memento.  Tears were flowing as it sunk in for these sweethearts that they were finally getting dressed for their wedding!  Before we left the room I suggested they get up and jump on the bed and it was just the trick to get out all the nerves– they even had an adorable pillow fight, what fun!  We grabbed some nice portraits in the beautiful lobby areas and I got a “paparazzi” style shot of them exiting the revolving door before heading over to Central Park for some more couple portraits.  We even got the opportunity to shoot some pictures that Chris had dreamed of– Lawrence is a dancer and Chris had hoped we might be able to have him dancing up on the half-shell stage upstairs from Bethesda Fountain.  We hopped in Michael’s car and made our way down to Harding’s, stopping for a shot with a view of the Flatiron building.  A crowd gathered and cheered the couple on, asking for pictures and congratulating them, it was really sweet.  Down at Harding’s everything was looking fantastic– exactly the rustic industrial garden-party flavor that these two had described wanting!  Highlights of the evening included a sweet ceremony officiated by their close friends, incredible toasts, and a few surprise song performances– Chris even serenated Lawrence in what turned into a singalong that left everyone smiling with tears in their eyes.  Congratulations to Chris & Lawrence, may your love last forever!  I was so honored to be your photographer!

Sarah & Pete’s intimate wedding at wave hill and riverdale yacht club

Sarah & Pete planned an intimate wedding with close friends and family to take place at Wave Hill, a park they love to visit, with a small reception to take place nearby at Riverdale Yacht Club.  I was so honored they chose me to capture this very special occasion in their lives.  Due to the extremely hot weather that day they chose to instead hold their ceremony indoors at Wave Hill House, which was quite sensible and appreciated by their guests, no doubt.  After their moving ceremony, guests were treated to champagne while the couple signed their marriage license.  We ventured out to the terrace overlooking the Hudson river and captured a series of family group pictures to commemorate the special occasion, and then I was lucky enough to have some time to shoot some couple portraits of this wonderful couple around the beautiful grounds of Wave Hill.  Many thanks to Michael, who gave us a lift on a golf cart as we hopped between a few choice spots for pictures so as to make the most of this time.  We all loaded up into a shuttle bus and headed to the Riverdale Yacht Club just a short drive away, and here I was able to capture some lovely portraits of the couple right down near the river with the bridge in the distance.  Congratulations to Sarah & Pete!

Wedding featured in The Knot New York Magazine!

Congratulations to Fabiola & Paras, whose lovely wedding at Prospect Park Boathouse was just featured in The Knot Magazine’s Fall/Winter edition for New York!  It’s on news stands now and I couldn’t be more delighted to have this on my coffee table…

Colleen & David’s Wedding at The Kaaterskill

Just when you think you’ve seen all the various approaches to a wedding day a couple like this comes along and blows you away.  Colleen & David planned a fun and colorful wedding in a relaxed and beautiful farm and inn called The Kaaterskill, which has sweet red barns, unique interiors,  Llamas, and a lovely pond at the center of it all. They wanted it to feel personal but most importantly full of laughter and joy for all who came.  It turns out they weren’t kidding with the ‘best wedding ever’ traffic signage they had directing guests along a path through the woods to the clearing where the ceremony was to be!  DIY projects and thoughtful and funny decor items elevated this celebration at every turn, but the real kicker for me was the intense happiness of these two to be marrying one another. I see a lot of couples who are in love but when you get two amazingly creative individuals who share this special kind of Joie de vivre AND they’re wildly attracted to one another?  WATCH OUT!  We didn’t need the sparklers around the dance floor at the end of the night to feel the fireworks here!  I could go on and on about the amazing details at this wedding… like what, you ask?  Oh, just a guest book that featured pictures of CHRISTOPHER GUEST throughout his carreer in films, a pair of Ushers wearing USHER TEESHIRTS, and don’t even get me started about the Bubble Gun usage at the ceremony. SO FUN!   Instead of “Bridesmaids” and “Groomsmen” we had a “Council of Bitches” and “The Fellowship of the Wedding Ring,” complete with fake custom tattoos and branded sunglasses for the women and whiskey glasses with funny nicknames for the guys. There was cheeky signage all over the wedding and there were colorful kaleidescopes sprinkled throughout the gorgeous and brightly colored tablescapes.  Really I could go on and on about all the delightful, funny, and stylish elements of this wedding, but what you should really know about this couple is that they are madly in love and together they are a force of nature that could take over the world, so remember this post.  Congratulations to Colleen & David, they deserve every happiness– they surely made me and everyone else who had the honor of witnessing this union very very happy indeed!
