Baby Lucy's first portraits!

Tim and Kathy brought their new baby Lucy into the studio today and oh my gosh is she tiny! It was great to finally meet her– I was hoping to shoot their home birth but I was already going to Becky and Jon’s labor when they called me and dibs are dibs… Lucy is lighter than my camera. I could have held that baby all day long… she was smiling up a storm when I was holding her before the shoot but of course once I got the shoot going it was all but impossible to catch any grinning… oh well, she’s super young, next time! Take a look at this little cutie and her very happy parents!

Family Portraits with the Reillys

Amy and Mike gifted a family portrait session to her parents at their rehearsal dinner (great idea!) and we had some fantastic weather today for the session at their home in Brooklyn. What a goodlookin’ bunch!

Flora of Wave Hill

Last weekend Keith and I went up to Wave Hill in Riverdale to celebrate a friend’s birthday and enjoy the first real weekend of summer (you wouldn’t know it from today’s weather, but it was definately summer last weekend!) We really enjoyed strolling around the gardens, and though not everything was in full bloom I enjoyed shooting images of the flora we saw.

Body art shoot with Jessica Jade Jacob

On tuesday I shot some interesting images collaborating with makeup artist Jessica Jade Jacob, who often specializes in prosthetics… She’s about to start teaching a body art class (mostly doing more traditional work like bodypainting I imagine) based out of a gallery in Chelsea and they wanted to have some images of her work to put up on the walls and use in advertisements for the class. I didn’t know what to expect but when i showed up she had a bag full of fresh octopus (from chinatown?) and a bunch of daisies… add a model and what more do you need? We shot in the gallery and up on their roof… I hope to collaborate with Jessica again soon to shoot more of her bodypainting style and some other ideas we hatched while working together.

Sort of disturbing, eh? Yeah, I’m a vegetarian (and no i don’t eat fish!) and while I personally never would have come up with or executed this ‘octopus’ shoot idea myself I am pretty impressed with the quality of the images it produced… lent itself to some dark imagery worthy of a gallery wall I hope.
